Vapor-sealed cable assemblies from GORE provide reliable Wi-Fi to European Aviation Network

W. L. Gore & Associates Inc. (Gore) is pleased to announce that GORE Microwave/RF Assemblies, 7 Series have been selected for use in commercial aircraft to deliver continuous high-quality signals for improved Wi-Fi Internet access on European short-haul flights. The European Aviation Network (EAN) is a next-generation platform from Inmarsat, a mobile satellite communications provider, that offers a true in-flight broadband experience for millions of passengers traveling across Europe.

GORE-Microwave-RF-Assemblies-7-Series EAN is the first solution worldwide to combine high-capacity satellite coverage from Inmarsat and a 4G LTE ground network from Deutsche Telekom to provide high-speed connectivity across all 28 EU states, plus Switzerland and Norway. The cellular network uses 300 LTE towers that pair with Ka-Band, Ku-Band and S-Band satellites to supply Internet connectivity to aircraft at high data rates. Passengers will benefit from this integrated approach by getting the speed that a ground network can deliver and the continual coverage that only a satellite can provide.

However, data transmission between satellites, ground towers and commercial aircraft must work seamlessly for this approach to be successful. When it comes to high-quality signal transmission, Gore’s vapor-sealed assemblies reliably connect the antenna located on the underside of the aircraft to the transceivers located on the ground.

戈尔微波/射频组件,7系列是根据合同red specifically to prevent the ingress of water vapor, jet fuel and harsh contaminants that naturally flow to the lowest point in the fuselage where the antenna is located. They provide outstanding shielding effectiveness against electromagnetic interference that can compromise signal integrity and reduce the quality of signal transmission. These robust assemblies routinely maintain low insertion loss, low return loss, and excellent phase stability for superior electrical performance over the aircraft’s lifetime.

Gore’s vapor-sealed 7 Series assemblies complement Gore’s wide variety of aerospace solutions — including coaxial and microwave/RF assemblies, high-speed data cables, aircraft sealants and more. Gore’s extensive collection of high-performance aerospace solutions will be on display at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany this week, April10-12, Booth 2E60.
