TE Connectivity increases availability of SEACON Micro WET-CON connectors

TE Connectivity (TE) announced today plans to implement two improvements to its SEACON Micro WET-CON connectors that will result in faster product turn-around and expedited delivery to customers.

TE-Connectivity-Micro-WET-CON-Image Lead-Free and RoHS Compliant– In order to meet international standards, TE Connectivity began manufacturing all Micro WET-CON connectors lead-free and Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) compliant starting on March 1. Previously, customers had to special order products that met these standards. There will be a brief transition period while old inventory is depleted, so customers are advised to specify at the time of ordering if they require RoHS compliant products.

Convenient Standard Lengths– Effective April 1, single-ended Micro WET-CON connectors will be available with standard cable lengths in the following sizes: 1, 2 and 5 m cable on inline connectors; 0.5 m hook-up wire on bulkhead connectors. Longer lengths can still be ordered on demand. TE will stock its U.S. and U.K. facilities with the standard-length products, which will contribute to decreased lead times. Following April 1, accessories like locking sleeves will be sold separately.

“These improvements will help decrease internal processing times and streamline our manufacturing lines, which will result in faster service and response times for customers,” said Jana Andreas, product manager for connectors and assemblies at TE Marine, Oil & Gas. “We will be able to further decrease lead times by stocking our U.S. and U.K. facilities with the new standard connectors.”
