T-Mobile on Wednesday announced an agreement to relocate a Texas NBC affiliate from its 600 MHz spectrum ahead of schedule.
Fort Worth’s KXAS-TV willmove to its new frequency in May, which officials noted is more than a year before the FCC’s repacking deadline. The carrier previously reachedagreements in the New York City marketand covering农村低功耗广播设施。
The carrier said the move would accelerate the deployment of its 600 MHz Extended Range LTE across northern Texas — as far away as Waco and Tyler — and into southern Oklahoma.
“We’re keeping our foot on the gas to add 600 MHz to our LTE network as quickly as possible, giving customers even more capacity and coverage while laying the foundation for 5G,” T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray said in a statement.
T-Mobile last month announced Dallas would be among 30 markets in which the carrier wouldbegin building 5G infrastructureby the end of the year. The company plans to use both millimeter wave and 600 MHz spectrum for its forthcoming 5G service.
