expands in multiple directions
Welcome to the second annual edition of the Additive Manufacturing Handbook. This dynamic industry continues to find new ways to make parts faster, and some of these new methods are included within this issue. But one of the bigger stories on additive this year is the growth of service providers. This industry continues to develop new ways to make objects faster, but which one do you choose for your needs? An excellent approach is to work with service providers. Not only do they typically have all the additive technologies you need, they also have “seen it all,” and can offer excellent advice and guidance so that you get the part you want.
Another big story involves the funding developers of additive technology are getting. For example, Carbon announced it raised more than $260 million in growth funding a few months ago. This latest round brought its total fundraising to more than $680 million.
Markforged in Massachusetts announced earlier in the year that it closed an $82 million Series D round of funding led by Summit Partners with participation from existing strategic and financial partners.
And Essentium, Inc., a provider and innovator of 3D printing solutions for industrial additive manufacturing, closed $22.2 million in Series A funding.
