Passing the baton: Frank Stührenberg will become CEO of Phoenix Contact

ByFrank Tobe|October 10, 2014

As of January 1, 2015, Frank Stührenberg, Executive Vice President Global Sales, will become Chairman of the Executive Board of Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co KG. Hence he will take over the office as well as the tasks that so far have been held by Klaus Eisert as managing partner.

Stührenberg will remain in charge of Global Sales. The joint responsibility and tasks of the other four Executive Vice Presidents will also remain unchanged.

The company, however, will continue to benefit from the know-how and experience of Klaus Eisert, who had not presided over a business division since 2006. Now he will focus his attention on establishing an Advisory Board, composed of shareholders and external persons. In the future, this Advisory Board will be the connecting link between the salaried Executive Board Members and the family shareholders.

Phoenix-Contact

Dipl.-Kfm. Frank Stührenberg, born 1963, has been working at Phoenix Contact since 1992. In 2001, he became Member of the Management Board and in 2005 was appointed to the Executive Board along with the four Executive Vice Presidents who still hold these functions.

“We see this as a sign of continuity with regard to the future and further growth of Phoenix Contact. It is an organizational step that will not significantly change the successful cooperation within the management of the company. For more than ten years, this board has determined the development and the strategy of the company,” said Klaus Eisert.

After completing his studies in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe, Dipl.-Ing Klaus Eisert joined the company in 1961, which his father Josef Eisert had led since the death of the company founder Hugo Knümann in 1953. Initially responsible for product development and sales marketing, Klaus Eisert assumed the position of Technical Director in 1975 and headed the company as managing partner.
