Mini I/O Connector System Supports Industrial Environments

TE Connectivity (TE) is working to expand their Mini I/O product family with a Mini I/O Cat6A cable connector that combines a small form-factor with connection speed. The new Mini I/O connector will be made available in a field installable version and version for cable harness makers for volume usage. This new product will further complete TE’s family of industrial Mini I/O connectors supporting serial, bus and Ethernet communication up to 10Gbps (Cat6A) performance making all connections work in industrial environments.

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is driving up the number of electrical connections in the latest industrial automation production lines. Traditional existing connector solutions lack the performance, reliability and size that is expected from today’s industrial solutions. Compared to today’s solutions, the Mini I/O is superior from a shock and vibration standpoint, offering a more stable connection due to a stable mechanical interface and double spring/double contact point layout. In addition, the
Mini I/O family has superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding when compared to traditional solutions like RJ45 connectors.

The new Mini I/O Cat6A cable connector will support Ethernet connections up to 10 Gbps. Combined with TE’s current offering on Mini I/O board connectors (R/A, SMT), once this new product is available, industrial manufacturers will have a full solution for small form factor industrial 10Gbps (Cat6A) connections.
