This week, HP Inc. held its first global Innovation Summit, with virtual events in The Americas, EMEA, and Asia. The event brought together customers, partners, and HP executives, to explore how HP’s heritage in innovation is driving everything the company does. From pushing digital transformation to disrupting Industrial, or enabling new innovations coming out of HP Labs.

“We are at an exciting juncture in terms of innovation right now. The physical and digital worlds are closer than ever before and this is a great opportunity for a company like HP, which sits at the intersection between those worlds,” said President & CEO, Enrique Lores. “The pandemic has accelerated innovation across the globe. We at HP have a huge opportunity to ensure technologies, such as our microfluid innovations, continues to make a positive impact on the world: Technology for everyone, everywhere.”

The future is now
The summit opened with remarks from President & CEO, Enrique Lores, followed by a fireside chat with event host Ryan Patel, CNN Contributor and Senior Fellow and Board Director at the Drucker School of Management, delving into the impact of COVID-19 on businesses and how organizations and individuals across the world are leveraging this moment in time to accelerate their own digital journeys and clear the way for positive innovation and transformation.

The live Q&A also explored the results of the Workforce Evolution Survey, discussing the skills that are needed for workforces to thrive in this new landscape. Enrique Lores spoke about how technology has rapidly accelerated in recent years, catalyzing the radical digital transformation we are experiencing now and into the future. Lores also noted how the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed how technology is being utilized globally and how HP is evolving its portfolio of products and services to meet consumer/company needs.

Disrupting industrial
Throughout the pandemic digital manufacturing technologies have showcased their innovative solutions, from enabling rapid design and production responses, to localizing manufacturing efforts to keep supply chains and economies on track.

This panel brought together HP executive leaders including Jon Wayne, Head of Global Commercial Business 3D Printing & Digital Manufacturing HP Inc and Lihua Zhao, Global Head of 3D Labs and industry experts including Ken Burns, Vice President Commercial, Forecast 3D and Sarah Goehrke Managing Editor, Fabbaloo to discuss how additive manufacturing has demonstrated that it can deliver on a global scale, with rapid design and production through dynamic digital supply chains.

Discussing the results of the HP Digital Manufacturing Trends report, the panel agreed that essential technology like 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing is a viable, long-term solution for accelerating production, transforming supply chains and will drive a digital manufacturing future.

“We started 3D and digital manufacturing with a mission to bring new ways for people in the world to design and create anytime and anywhere, with minimum waste and less steps for maximum efficiency”, said Lihau Zhao, Global Head of 3D Labs at HP Labs. “We believe that by doing this and keeping the design process digital throughout, we can accelerate the fourth industrial revolution.”

Innovating for the future
这个关闭会话里面看看惠普的我nnovation engine, HP Labs, and the leaders who are driving it forward. It highlighted the four main focus areas of HP Labs as it commits to innovating and reinventing itself as it has done for over 80 years. Those areas are: Security, 3D printing, Digital Manufacturing and Microfluidics.
HP Labs has worked to find ways to apply its core printing and 3D printing technologies to new markets and applications, such as life sciences. This has led to new HP Microfluidics technology that is bringing innovation and new efficiencies to the serial dilution of pharmaceuticals, for drug dispensing and discovery, as well as susceptibility testing.

We also discovered HP200A – a new business unit run by Dr Trevor Hawkins, Chief Disrupter and Global Head of HP Tech Strategy. This unit is using the know-how across HP to bring innovation to the healthcare sector and improve outcomes for patients.

“Partnering for innovation is so important to HP, as no one company can do everything”, said Andrew Bolwell Chief Disrupter and Global Head of HP Tech Strategy and Ventures. “HP Tech Ventures is very focused on working with start-ups around the world. We learn from each other and innovate together. They are doing some amazing things that blow my mind. It keeps us feeling young, fresh and excited to be partnering and shape the future.”
