How can you reduce audio noise in an airport?

At Sensors Expo 2018, Giovanni De Majo from audio and pressure sensor product marketing at ams, demonstrates how his company’sAS3415 Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) chipcan help reduce the background noise for headphone users in an airport, car or airplane.

Selecting between the noise situation in an airplane car or airport De Majo chooses an airport noise environment. With the AS3415, the headphone user has the noise canceled. Switching between with or without ANC is a true test of the product’s capabilities.

In its QFN-32 (5mm x 5mm) package, the ANC chip for stereo headsets has an integrated bypass function addressing a feedforward architecture for stereo wired headsets, suitable for music, video or mobile use. ANC performance [ in dB] is greater than 20. In fact, greater than 25dB noise reduction achievable. With a supply voltage of 1.0 to 1.8V, the chip maximum output power (BTL, 1.8V, 32 Ohm) of 110 mW and a signal to noise ratio (SNR) greater than 110 dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) 0.1% (SE, 34mW, 32 Ohm).

TheAS3415 Evaluation Kithelps designers interested in feedforward topology to accelerate the time to market for stereo ANC headsets. Each kit contains a USB communication interface that allows easy communication to the AS3415 evaluation board as well as he software.

The company says its ANC products are smaller than competing solutions, use less power, and offer better noise attenuation. Targeted applications include earpieces, headsets, hands-free kits, mobile phones and voice communicating devices.
