HELUKABEL recently held an open house and “cable ribbon”-cutting ceremony to officially open its new 75,000-ft2U.S. headquarters in suburban Chicago.

The new facility sits on an 8-acre parcel in the Oakview Corporate Park at 1201 Wesemann Drive in West Dundee. This is the first phase of a buildout that allows for future on-site expansions to accommodate a facility of over 200,000 square feet as the company continues to grow. This investment marks an important milestone in the company’s short history in the USA as it solidifies its continued commitment and expansion in North America. This build-to-suit, newly constructed facility has been designed and built specifically to harmonize operational processes and streamline workflow. Increasing the racking capacity by more than 100% will allow orders to be processed faster, provide greater product availability, and improved lead time.

HELUKABEL USA, which started operations in 2007 in a 13,000-square-foot facility and expanded into a 43,000-square-foot facility just five years ago, has quickly grown in the US industrial cable and wire sector focusing on high product availability and short lead times. “The demand for our branded products such as TRAYCONTROL, TOPFLEX, and TOPSERV has required us to rapidly increase our warehousing capacity and operational capabilities in a short period of time,” said HELUKABEL USA President Markus Dannheim. “Since our founding 11 years ago, we have physically moved two times in order to maintain inventory levels that allow us to provide products faster than industry standards so that we continue to exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Constructionbegan in November 2017. The company began operating out of the new facility in May once construction was completed. “The speed with which we were able to design, construct and obtain beneficial occupancy to our new headquarters is a testament to the countless hours of planning that went into this project, our relationship with officials at the Village of West Dundee and Opus Development Company, and the dedicated team of HELUKABEL USA,” Dannheim stated.

The building is state-of-the-art in terms of energy efficiency. Additionally, the warehouse will increase operational efficiency through an improved workflow as well as dedicated spooling for high-volume items. “Instead of moving the cables to the cutting equipment for certain orders, we have dedicated rack spaces for higher demand items that can be cut with a mobile cutting machine to optimize order fulfillment,” he continued.

“The U.S. affiliate’s new headquarters reinforces HELUKABEL’s commitment to its customers and the relationships that our employees have fostered in North America and around the world, which are fundamentally key to the continued success of our company as we move forward,” added HELUKABEL GmbH Managing Director Marc Luksch.
