Healthcare legislation has been in the news since Obama proposed the Affordable Care Act, also termed ‘ObamaCare’. It has been challenged numerous times, by everyone from politicians to business owners. The 2016 presidential candidates have also started taking swings. Most recently, Sen. Bernie Sanders shared his ideas.
The Democratic candidate plans to repeal and replace the plan if elected, which is unique in the Democratic party, although talked about frequently in Republican groups. Sanders wants to replace it with a system like the ones in Canada and most of Western Europe, which the Associated Press describes as an “all-inclusive, government-run system” that puts the system “in the hands of the federal government, with states acting as administrative subcontractors.”
Playing off the ‘ObamaCare’ nickname, people have started calling his plan ‘BernieCare’.
