FDA clears an additively manufactured cervical support system

A couple of months ago, Nexxt Spine pioneered the design and development ofspinal fusion implants与互联micro-lattice拱itectures using additive manufacturing. The goal behind the design is to promote osteoconduction, osteointegration, and boney fusion.

Now, the company has announced FDA 510(k) clearance of the NEXXT MATRIXX Stand Alone Cervical System. This cervical system is part of the NEXXT MATRIXX brand of 3D printed porous titanium interbodies printed on GE Additive’s Mlab printer.

The NEXXT MATRIXX Stand Alone Cervical System is a stand-alone anterior cervical interbody fusion system for use as an adjunct to fusion at one or two contiguous levels (C2-T1) in skeletally mature patients for the treatment of degenerative disc disease. The NEXXT MATRIXX Stand Alone Cervical System is used with the bone screw fixation provided and requires no additional fixation.

“This enhancement of the NEXXT MATRIXX portfolio was a natural progression for Nexxt Spine,” states President Andy Elsbury. “With patient care always top of mind, we strive to develop end products that surgeons prefer, and hardware that patients can count on. Our Stand Alone Cervical is no exception and will showcase the propensity of NEXXT MATRIXX technology to facilitate the body’s natural power of cellular healing for fortified fusion.”

The Nexxt Spine Stand Alone Cervical System is available in a variety of footprints and screws for one step locking along with multiple drill and inserter options.
