Comba Telecom said it bolstered its public safety Bi-directional Amplifier product line to enhance the clarity and reliability of in-building wireless communication for first responders.
The latest version of Comba’s 700/800MHz CriticalPoint BDA line is on display this week at the International Wireless Communications Expo in Orlando.
New features include support for FirstNet’s LTE Band 14, as well as increased power and greater control of uplink and downlink power output levels.
The public safety DAS manufacturer said its research and development team developed the new features to make the line more appealing to integrators deploying systems to support public safety voice communications.

Uplink power was increased to 27 dBm, a 66 percent boost, which affords more power to deliver calls with greater clarity, according to Comba.
Comba also rolled out independent regulation of both uplink and downlink output power for the BDA line, which allows increased control of system performance — enabling enhanced overall system balancing.
“We continually strive to improve our public safety products,”product manager Steven Cheng said in a statement.“These new improvements will directly help first responders communicate more effectively and ultimately help save lives.”
The new products are set to start shipping this month.
Late last month, Comba also announced it joined the CBRS Alliance, adding to the group founded by Google, Qualcomm, Intel, Nokia, Ruckus and Federated Wireless to ensure compatibility and interoperability in the 3.5 GHz band.
“Cellular data is expected to increase exponentially over the next few years and CBRS will help alleviate capacity and coverage problems and create new opportunities and business models,” said product manager JT Park. “We look to work with Alliance to develop new CBRS solutions to meet customers need and demands while ensuring it meets the Alliance’s certification standards.”
