Hardly anyone would want to do without app-based devices such as smartphones in everyday life, because they can handle numerous different tasks. IDS has combined this approach with the requirements of modern industrial cameras. The result is the new product generation IDS NXT.

These devices are vision app-based, can be flexibly configured and used for a wide variety of image processing tasks. With the Software Development Kit offered by IDS, users can independently develop individual vision apps and install them on their IDS NXT devices. This offers universal possibilities in numerous fields of application, e.g. in optical quality assurance, analytics, for monitoring tasks or vehicle and person counting.

The latest product family member isIDS NXT vegaswith 1.3 megapixel CMOS colour sensor. Users benefit from the same advantages that the monochrome version offers, such as PC-independent data processing via integrated CPU or the robust, vibration-resistant housing with IP65 protection.

Ensenso X 3D Camera: Expanded Field of View with 5 MP Sensors

IDS now offers theEnsenso X 3D camera systemwith high-resolution 5 MP cameras featuring the IMX264 CMOS Sony sensor. The application fields of Ensenso X range from robotic parts handling in factory automation (e.g. bin picking) to pallet commissioning in warehouse and logistics automation.

Compared to the currently available 1.3 MP sensors, the 5 MP cameras allow for an expanded field of view, higher resolution and lower noise levels.

However, improved 3D image quality also means larger amounts of data and, therefore, potentially longer processing times. IDS offers a solution to cope with these requirements as well: Using the new EnsensoSDK 2.2, Stereo matching can now be supported by the Nvidia CUDA graphics card, which speeds up the process by about five times. This feature and other functions of the software development kit can be used with all cameras of the Ensenso N and X series.
